KRTU 91.7fm is San Antonio's only primary-format jazz radio station. We
play jazz from 5 am - 10 pm every day.  The majority of our jazz is
post-bop small combo, however traditional jazz, swing, latin jazz, vocal
jazz, bebop, ballads, and new jazz are all featured as part of our
regular rotation as well. KRTU also boasts many genre-specific
specialty shows such as the Latin Jazz Brunch (sundays 11am-2pm), 
the Outward Bound avant-garde show (sundays 8-10pm), a new jazz show
"Evolve" (fridays 1-3pm), Contemporary jazz (saturday 7-10pm only), 
as well as blues programming saturday and sunday from 5-7pm. In 
addition, every weekday Aaron Prado hosts "Lunch with the Jazz Greats," 
a week-long look at a specific jazz master from 11am - 1pm. KRTU is a
listener-supported radio station based out of Trinity University and
serves as an educational station by teaching our large student workforce
about modern radio. Students comprise the majority of our on-air staff,
and the student management team oversees much of KRTU's operations. For

KRTU also operates a second format from 10pm - 5am called "Nocturnal
Transmissions," which broadcasts college rock programming. This format
is entirely regulated by students and is one of San Antonio's only radio
choices for non-mainstream alternative, rock, or indie programming. 
Highlights of the Nocturnal Transmissions format include No Name Radio
(fridays 10-12), the Silent Whig of Thunder (saturdays 10-12), and
KRTU's local rock thursdays, which includes Live From Studio A, a
one-hour radio concert with a local or regional band followed by local
plus, an additional hour of nothing but local alternative rock artists. 
Sunday night features the Alternative Edge, San Antonio's
longest-running Christian Rock radio show on the FM dial ways.  

Whatever the taste, KRTU has something to offer the San Antonio
listener. This commercial-free radio is not only well-chosen, it's
well-informed too.
